Goplus or DeerRun? Which Best Walking Pad Pick Has More Use Behind It

Buy the Goplus 2 in 1, Wirecutter's top pick at $150 on Amazon in October 2026, if you want the most people and owner reviews behind your walking pad. Pick Tom's Guide's DeerRun Q1 Mini instead if a single writer's three months on one pad matters more to you.

If you want one answer, buy the Goplus 2 in 1 Under-Desk Treadmill. Wirecutter names it its top pick, while Tom’s Guide calls the DeerRun Q1 Mini the best walking pad for most people. Before you spend, check what each verdict rests on.

The Goplus has the broader trial behind it. Wirecutter’s trials of several pads involved more than 30 people. Those trials ran three months in total.

Tom’s Guide backs its DeerRun pick with one writer’s three months on it, and the pad still worked as it did on day one.

Quick Picks: One Walking Pad for Each Kind of Buyer

  • Most evidence: Goplus 2 in 1. $150 at Amazon, per Wirecutter. Wirecutter picked it after trials with more than 30 people. Weak spot: the belt edge frayed.
  • Longest run on one pad: DeerRun Q1 Mini. Per Tom’s Guide, it’s had three months of use and still works like new. Weak spot: its pick summary gives no price or specs.
  • Top seller: Amazon’s #1 walking pad. Listed at $89.97 when we checked. Rated 4.5 of 5 stars. Weak spot: a sales rank isn’t a review.

The Goplus Has the Most Evidence; the DeerRun Has the Longest Run on One Pad

Each source backs its pick with a different kind of proof. Read the third column before the second.

How We Evaluated: “Best” Means the Most Use on Record

Here, “best” is measured from Wirecutter and Tom’s Guide findings: the most published use behind a pick, for a first-time buyer in an apartment, as of October 2026. Three questions decided the order:

  1. How much use, and how many people, back the pick?
  2. Does the source name a flaw, and is there a fix for it?
  3. Does the source give a price, weight limit and top speed?

The sources are Wirecutter, Tom’s Guide, Amazon’s best-seller list and TreadmillReviews. The step-count advice comes from Jess Creatives. GetsFit puts their published findings side by side.

Goplus 2 in 1: Most Evidence for a First Pad

Verdict: This is Wirecutter’s top pick. It suits a buyer who wants the broadest published trial behind their pad.

Flaw and fix: Wirecutter says the belt “did start to fray along the edge,” and that the “90-day warranty doesn’t cover normal wear and tear.” The fix: if warranty cover matters most, Wirecutter says its other pick, the GoYouth 2 in 1 Under-Desk Electric Treadmill, has a better warranty. Wirecutter lists it at $224 at Walmart, but it has a lower weight limit.

Strengths: According to Wirecutter, it holds up to 265 pounds. Its top speed is 7.5 miles per hour (mph). It listed at $150 at Amazon. Walmart’s price was $170, so Amazon saves you $20.

Skip it if you’d rather trust one long record on one pad. Pick the DeerRun Q1 Mini instead.

DeerRun Q1 Mini: Three Months on One Pad Without Breaking

Verdict: This is Tom’s Guide’s pick for most people. It suits a buyer whose biggest worry is a pad that dies early.

Flaw and fix: In our judgment, the weak spot is the record: Tom’s Guide’s pick summary calls it “super affordable” but gives no price, weight limit or top speed. The fix: check all three on the listing and compare them with the Goplus.

Strengths: The writer had walked on it for three months when the pick was made. Tom’s Guide reports that it still works as well as it did fresh out of the box, which speaks directly to the worry that cheap pads break early.

Skip it if you want the price and specs on record before you buy. Buy the Goplus 2 in 1 instead.

Walking Pads Are a Cheap Treadmill Alternative With Three Common Complaints

Walking pads are good value if you go in knowing their weak spots. TreadmillReviews describes them as a cheap alternative to treadmills. Tom’s Guide warns that most under-desk treadmills are noisy, have clunky apps and are likely to break within a few months. Each complaint has a fix:

  1. Noise. Compare stated noise levels in decibels (dB) across pads. For scale, TreadmillReviews reports 47 dB for the DeerRun Q1 Pro at 2.0 mph, a different model from the Q1 Mini.
  2. Clunky apps. You don’t need the pad’s app to count steps. Your watch can do it (see below).
  3. Short life. A 90-day warranty is about three months (90 ÷ 30 = 3). That’s roughly the “few months” Tom’s Guide gives for breakage. Buy a pad whose warranty runs past that window, or one with months of use on record, like the DeerRun.

Amazon’s #1 Walking Pad Sells for $89.97, but the Top Spot Changes Often

When we checked, the #1 seller in Amazon’s Treadmills category was a walking pad listed at $89.97. It was rated 4.5 out of 5 stars from 1,310 ratings. We don’t name it because Amazon says the list is updated frequently, so a different pad may hold the top spot by the time you click.

The cheap end of the market is full of look-alikes. TreadmillReviews, in a guide last updated May 16, 2025, points out how similar the cheap pads are and how hard they are to shop for.

Price gap: $150 (Goplus at Amazon, per Wirecutter) − $89.97 (the #1 seller on Amazon) = $60.03 more for a pick with months of published notes behind it.

If saving $60.03 matters more to you than the review record, buy the top seller. First, check that its warranty and weight limit match the Goplus’s.

Your Apple Watch Misses Desk-Walking Steps Unless You Start a Workout or Move It to Your Ankle

Jess Creatives explains the problem. An Apple Watch counts steps by detecting arm swing, so it counts almost nothing while your hands are on a keyboard. The same post gives two fixes:

  1. Open the Workout app, choose Indoor Walk and start a session before you begin walking.
  2. For closer numbers, strap the watch around your ankle or thread it through a shoelace. The author says this lands within about 1% of the pad’s own step counter.

Use the ankle method when an accurate count matters. Use the Indoor Walk session when you just want the walk logged. If you wear a band instead of a watch, see what the Fitbit Charge 6 still does after Premium ends.

Walking Works as a First Workout at Any Skill Level

The World Health Organization (WHO) lists walking among the popular ways to be active, at any skill level. That makes a walking pad an easy first piece of gear. You need one pad, one watch and one workout app session.

Next step: Once walking is a habit, compare adjustable dumbbells for an apartment home gym as your second piece of small-space gear.

Walking Pad Questions, Answered

Is a Walking Pad Any Good?

For walking at home on a budget, yes. The trade-off is lifespan, so pick a pad with months of use on record or a warranty longer than 90 days.

What Is the Best Walking Machine for Home Use?

As of October 2026, the Goplus 2 in 1 has the most evidence behind it. The DeerRun Q1 Mini is the better choice if a single long run on one pad reassures you more.

Is Amazon’s Top-Selling Walking Pad Worth It?

It can be, if its warranty and weight limit match the Goplus 2 in 1’s. A #1 sales rank doesn’t tell you how long a pad will last.

If you have a medical condition or an injury, talk to your doctor before you start walking on a pad.
